for everyone

i got this paper camera in hong kong about 2 years ago...until now i still haven't been able to assemble it. There's actually a long story behind it, but i'll try and summarize it here to a few short sentences instead...

You see, i was so excited to go buy a LOMO but after few failed attempts to find the store i saw online (before departing to HK) i gave up. we were already leaving the next day and i still haven't seen the store. Then i stumbled upon this...The paper camera. I thought, "hey this could be fun too!" and bought it. I even had the sales guy try and translate the instructions on a piece of paper..Poor guy, he must have been so frustrated trying to tell me what the heck the instructions on the paper meant. He didn't know english and i didn't know mandarin or whatever it was he was speaking...talk about miscommunication. After 20 mins. of charades and countless "uhm"(s) and "yes"(s) and nods, i ended up with a piece of paper with numbers and dots (literally dots). when i left i could've sworn i knew what those numbers meant! but when i got home they didn't ring a bell at all.

Fast forward to now and its still in its opened package. I tried emailing the email address included, they replied but it was an apology in english saying they "are sorry there is no translation available at the moment"...that was two years ago. I tried emailing them now and i got a send failure notice apparently the email address is no longer used!

After reading(or snooping on...hehe) Millie's blogs, i got inspired to take it out and take time to play with my toy. So, i took it out from the bottom shelf  dusted it off and opened it up. I took a long hard look at it and realized why i had put it away 2 years ago. the instructions were in chinese. there were so many parts and i i wasnt sure what the instructions meant. yea there was the numbered system i could easily follow like i used to do in my lego-crazy childhood days, but this time i wasn't bold enough. i'm too chicken to just spread all the pieces out and just try and put it together the way the picture says it should be put. WHY am i being this way??? sigh. anyway i'm posting it here out of frustration.

I'm gonna try it. bahala na.   or not...hahaha.

*the first picture is the cover (notice how the product tries to convince the consumers it's a working camera.)

*the second one is the numbered instructions.

*and the third picture is of the instructions zoomed in (played around with the design in photoshop hehe.)

wow

sorry lenghty post!

After spending a few minutes zooming in on the diagrams I realized that this shouldn't be too hard.
The trick is to spit on your hands and rub them together to generate enough heat. That should do it!
GO! Assemble the nice toy Aya! Go! Go! Go!
